   ocr: GLOSSARY ELECTRIC CHARGE An electric charge is the amount of electricity that an object holds. A charge can be either positive or negative. Electrons, the tiny particles that carry electric currents in metal wires, have a negative charge. When atoms lose electrons they get a positive charge. SEE ALSO
